Hasson and he was born on July 20th. He was 6lbs 13.5oz and 19.5 inches!
I went to a doctors appointment that morning and was told I was dilated to a 4 and 90% effaced. So, if I had any pains that stopped me in my tracks I should just head in. Well, Cody thought I should just go in anyway because he didn't think they would turn me away. After my appointment I went and had lunch with my sister and then met Cody back at his Mom's house. Well, after some persuading he got me to go into the hospital and see if they would keep me. I told them that I had had some pains and my doctor told me not to hesitate. So, the nurses kind of acted like that was weird and wanted to know why and if I was high risk, etc. I just knew they would send me back home! So, they told me they would evaluate me and then go from there. Well, to my surprise when they took me the a room and got me hooked up I was having regular contractions. I could feel them, but I guess I just hadn't been paying attention because once I sat down and focused, they hurt! Anyway the nurse checked me and I had moved to a 5 and because I was progressing and having regular pains she didn't feel comfortable sending me home. So, much to my dismay - Cody was right!
Anyway, I had to wait for the doctor to get off work at 5 and then he would come and break my water. They said I could get an epidural at any time but if you have ever had one you know that you need to be in some serious pain before it is worth it because it hurts! I said I wanted to wait, but the nurse informed me that the anesthesiologist was doing a c-section from 5 until 6 and so I would have to wait until after that. I thought that would be fine because the doctor wouldn't even be able to break my water until after he got off at 5 and drove the the hospital so I thought it would be like 5:30 at the earliest. Cody didn't like the idea of me waiting and pushed me to just get it right away, but I wanted to wait.
So, 5:30 rolls around and the doctor breaks my water. Well, I decided at about 6 that I needed something and fast! But the anesthesiologist still wasn't available - and yes, Cody was right again! Dangit! They put a shot of something in my IV. Well that worked for about 10 minutes. I tried to just pony up, but the contractions were getting pretty bad. Finally at about 6:30 I asked Cody to please call the nurse because the contractions were just right on top of one another and boy it was a lot of pressure! So, I guess when a husband calls the nurse it is cause for concern because 3 of them came in all worried that the baby had started to come out! One of the nurses checked me and I was dilated to a 9! Anyway they tried to tell me just to do it naturally, but right then the anesthesiologist came and gave me a spinal! I had to wait 5 minutes for it to kick in before I could push and at 6:43 pm he was here!
It was a crazy fast labor! Well, at least it felt fast to me - 4 hours. Here are some pictures of our beautiful new addition.
Well, our little boy has finally arrived! We named him Wyatt Mathew
