Gobble, Gobble!

For Memorial Day weekend Cody, Gage, and I hitched a ride with the parents to Cody's Grandparent's house in Fillmore, UT. We had a really nice time and it was really nice to relax a little bit and spend time with Cody's sweet Grandparents. Unfortunately, Gage was teething and so we couldn't go very far because we had to change his diaper about every 10 minutes! Seriously! We took the Ranger, and luckily Cody's sweet Grandma watched Gage so that we could go for a ride. On this ride, it was beautiful by the way, we were just driving along and Cody spotted a turkey going into the trees. He looked over at me and said "I bet she has babies, let's go look!" So, we parked the Ranger and went over to see if we could spot the little baby turkeys. Sure enough, the Mama turkey ran away and we saw the brush moving from the little babies trying to high tail it, too! Cody had this grand idea that he would catch one of the little buggers! So, there was this tiny one running into a bush and so I stood on one side and Cody on the other and I tried to coerce this little turkey to run his way. It gave out a tiny "cheep, cheep" and then ran towards Cody's side! He scooped it up and I looked at him and you won't believe what happened next!!!
I looked up and behind Cody in the not so far distance I saw MAMA BIRD! Coming at Cody with her wings spread out and she was HAULING!!! She was coming to get her baby!!! It was so scary! Cody didn't even see her! I said, "Cody, give the baby back, the mama's coming after you!!!!" Cody set the baby down as fast and gently as he could and we RAN! We ran back to the Ranger and that dumb turkey kept running after us even as we started driving away!
Moral of the story, do not mess with a mama!
